In this video I review the LIFE ESSENTIALS INTERACTIVE STUDY BIBLE. What makes it interactive? Let’s find out.
Before we get too far into things, I want to let you know that I was provided a copy of this Bible from Holman Bible Publishers and Lifeway Publishing in exchange for my review.
The LIFE ESSENTIALS INTERACTIVE STUDY BIBLE comes with all the typical features you’ll find in most Bibles today:
- Two-column text
- Topical subheadings
- Black-letter text
- 9-point type
- Textual footnotes
- Full-color maps
If you’re wondering about the translation, it’s the Christian Standard Bible which uses the “Optimal Equivilance” model of translation.
I’m not going to talk about this particular translation because smarter people than me can debate the merits of translation philosophies.
I’ve review two other Bibles from this publisher:
I like each one of the Bibles from Holman Bible Publishers that I’ve reviewed. They put out great products.
What really sets apart the LIFE ESSENTIALS BIBLE from the others is:
- Commentary and application questions on 1,500 life principles
- 250 hours of free in-depth video teaching to accompany each life principle
Being able to see and hear Gene A. Getz teach the principles outlined in the LIFE ESSENTIALS BIBLE helps to extend your reading beyond the physical pages.
If you have a modern smartphone, you simply scan the QR code next to one of the principles in the Bible and you’re taken to a video where Getz teaches the principle.
I did have a problem opening one of the videos. I tried it a few times and it woul not open but all the other codes I tried worked flawlessly.
I have the hard cover version and what’s really neat is that the cover of the book matches the dust jacket. Often you just get a plan hardcover. This is a nice change of pace.
The LIFE ESSENTIALS BIBLE is also available in “leather touch” and leather and indexed versions. There is not an indexed hardcover.
I’d like the font to be a little bit bigger but that’s a personal preference. I tend to use digital Bibles that allow me to increase the font size.
Overall, I think this is a great Bible. If you’re looking to add some interactivity to your Bible-reading time, consider this one.
